MR2 Nationals 2026 Tasmania Concluded

The MR2 Nationals 2026 was an incredible experience. Tasmania’s scenery and roads were mesmerising, but to drive together with our MR2 club family and making new friends, make the experience even more memorable. The Victorian MR2 club and its event committee did an incredible job in organising this event, including promoting and sourcing Sponsorship. Huge thank you to the committee – Jodie Clarence, David Nguyen, Ethan McArthur, Michael Halliday & Desley and James Pannell.

We would like to thank our major sponsors and partners of this event. The MR2 Nationals 2026 was proudly sponsored by Autobarn Launceston, Shannons Insurance and Gyeon Australia. They supported our MR2 community with enthusiasm, welcomed us to Tasmania and made our event financially more viable.

Thanks to the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania, Launceston, who hosted at the Japanese Classic Car Shows 2026 and made us feel welcome to your event. Thanks to our special guest Tim Johnson who shared us the journey behind the MR2 #28 Race Car and gave us an inspiring speech to keep our MR2s running.

Thanks to the vendors for our event: Tamar Valley Resort, Spirit of Tasmania, Symmons Plain Raceway, Cataract Gorge Cruises, Scamander Beach Resort, Riverfront Motel, Gold Rush Inn and Beachfront Voyager Motor Inn. We also had great meals at Legana Tavern, Mount Elephant Pancake Shack, Jailhouse Grill, Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, Beauty Front Waterfront Hotel and Ball & Chain Grill Salamanca.

Lastly, thank you to our attendees! We hope you enjoyed the journey. See you at the next MR2 Nationals 2028 – QUEENSLAND!

Special thanks to John Rand from Rand Electronics Devonport, who met us and helped us with cars, and John Samin from the Triabunna Barracks, who took time to show us the venue despite your injuries. Also, thanks to Geelong Gaol Museum, who opened specially for us outside the normal hours, just because we lingered around.
